BIRTHDAY CAKE OVERNIGHT OATS

Who doesn’t love everything birthday cake flavored?! While it would be awesome to eat birthday cake treats daily, I do not that think that is on *any* diet plan. 😉 The next best thing is to find ways to lighten up beloved treats which is what we love to do! Considering this tastes just like cake batter, this recipe really isn’t *that* unhealthy.

This isn’t a super-food breakfast by any means, but it’s totally acceptable to eat cake oatmeal for breakfast if you ask us! Plus it’s awesome for families because you toss everything in the crockpot and it yields enough oatmeal for everyone to eat all week.

WHICH CAKE MIX TO BUY

You might be thinking, cake mix on a clean eating website?! The trick to making this oatmeal taste like cake batter without completely throwing off the macros is by using something like Bob’s Red Mill’s Cake Mix.

Bob’s Red Mill’s Vanilla Cake Mix contains no artificial flavors or preservatives. While there are 96 grams of sugar in one cup of the vanilla cake mix, this recipe makes eight (or even more!) servings which equal about 12 grams of sugar in one serving. We typically try to avoid that much added sugar in our recipes but since we don’t make this/eat this every week it’s okay to indulge every now and then!

WHAT ABOUT THE SPRINKLES?

Luckily there are now plenty of options for “healthier” sprinkles. Think no artificial dyes, sugar-free, gluten-free, vegan, etc.

Just a search of “healthy sprinkles” on Amazon brings up a lot of options but also check your local grocer!

P.S. You can use these sprinkles in our Cake Batter Protein Bites too!
