ANTI-BLOAT SMOOTHIE

Have you been indulging a little bit more than normal? Do you feel bloated? If you answered yes to either or both of those questions try this Anti-Bloat Smoothie.

Some think that because you’re bloated and you’re holding on to water, you should cut back on drinking it. It’s actually the opposite, and you should be re-hydrating with lots of water! Of course, a smoothie loaded with the following ingredients will benefit you too! Here’s why…

HOW DO THESE INGREDIENTS DE-BLOAT?

  • Cucumber: This crunchy vegetable is a natural diuretic that helps flush out excess water weight
  • Celery: Celery has a high water content which purges the body of toxins and decreases fluid retention
  • Lemon: Lemon is a natural diuretic and can reduce the amount of salt retained in the body. In addition to using it in this smoothie, try adding it to warm water or smoothies to soothe your digestive system. We add lemon to almost all of our detox water and juice recipes!
    • If preferred, remove lemon seeds before blending (we use a Vitamix and do not remove the lemon seeds)
    • If you are sensitive to the tartness of lemons, start with a quarter lemon instead of a half
  • Banana: Bananas are loaded with potassium which helps relieve water retention
  • Pure Coconut Water: “Nature’s Energy Drink,” is loaded with important electrolytes like calcium, potassium, magnesium, and chloride. These are key minerals to fight bloat because they restore our systems back to proper function and help balance our body’s pH level. When the sodium and potassium levels in our bodies are imbalanced, our brain signals our kidneys to retain water. We can combat this naturally by adding pure coconut water to our smoothies!
    • Coconut water should be the only ingredient! Make sure to avoid added sweeteners.
