ANEMIA-FIGHTING GREEN SMOOTHIE
According to the Mayo Clinic, “anemia is a condition in which you lack enough healthy red blood cells to carry adequate oxygen to your body’s tissues.” This can make you weak and tired, which is the opposite of what we want!
It’s important to fight anemia by getting extra iron, but our bodies also need extra vitamin C in order to actually absorb the iron. This smoothie has the perfect combination of both and it tastes delicious!
You will get a nice dose of iron from the spinach & kale (or whatever leafy greens you choose), and the grapes and kiwi provide vitamin C. The lemon is also high in vitamin C, but we use it in every smoothie because it benefits nearly every part of your body.
My friend also made this smoothie to fight morning sickness when pregnant. If that also applies to you, it’s just one more reason to give this a try!
P.S. Consult your doctor if you think you may have anemia as there are many different types, causes, symptoms, and risk factors for anemia.

What is the iron content of this smoothie?
Whitney Carlson says
Hi Kelly, I updated the recipe label to include this information. According to the nutrition calculator I use it has 2mg of iron per serving. That could vary depending on your exact ingredients (size, etc). I hope this helps!

Can you freeze or hold in the fridge for any about of time?
Whitney Carlson says
So sorry, I am just now seeing this comment. We usually refrigerate ours over 2-3 days if we don’t drink it all the first day.

Made for my MIL and seems to taste good, she’s picky but knowing she needs this for her anemia, she’s willing, but can only drink half of it. Is it safe to refrigerate for next day or even freeze? Thanks.

Loved it but mine separated the water was on the bottom if I left it too long. I just stirred it maybe I didn’t put enough spinach.
I absolutely love it.

I am going to the grocery store this afternoon to buy the ingredients to make this. How often should I drink this? Is there a certain time of day I drink it? How much should I drink per day?
Thank you for answering my questions!! 😊
