Looking to drop that extra water weight and reduce bloating? Try Jillian Michaels’ detox water – It is a natural diuretic drink!

tea in a plastic container with text that reads Jillian Michaels' Detox Water

Plain and simple…just the way we like it! Jillian Michaels’ detox water consists of distilled water, cranberry juice, organic dandelion root tea and lemon juice. Why these particular ingredients mixed together? It’s a natural diuretic drink!

But WAIT! Isn’t distilled water bad for you? The short answer is no…distilled water isn’t bad for you. Many people have this misconception because distilled water is slightly acidic and doesn’t contain any organic minerals because everything except for the pure H2O is removed during the distillation process. You want to use distilled water for a cleanse or detox because you want the pure water to help remove toxins from your system, not add more toxins back into your system!

Moreover, your kidneys regulate the minerals you consume through the foods you eat, so unless you have existing kidney issues (and contrary to the opinions in the comments section), this drink will not harm you! With that said, we use spring water or alkalized water for daily water consumption while not detoxing. We don’t recommend distilled water for daily consumption because our diets are already very acidic by nature, so alkaline water is the best way to go to keep your pH balance in check.

JILLIAN MICHAELS’ DETOX WATER

This is a detox water that you drink along with your clean, healthy meals…it is not designed to be a full-fledged cleanse, rather it should be used to reduce bloating and water weight. It’s perfect to drink when you’re seven days away from a big event.

Many of you reached out about having a hard time finding the ingredients for this detox water. You can check your local grocery store but we order most of ours on Amazon. Below are a few links to the products:

  • Organic Dandelion Root Tea Bags
  • Pure Cranberry Juice
  • Pure Lemon Juice

Again, this is water that you drink with your normal, healthy meals. You don’t starve yourself while only drinking this water. 😉

I actually liked the taste of this water but it is bitter!

You can consume this drink every 12 to 16 weeks.

Hi Nikki, Did you read the post? You drink all 60 oz each day (so you make a new batch each day). I drink mine for 7 days and usually do it every 3 months or so. Hope this helps.

This detox water definitely works and I actually like the bitter taste. I’m wondering however if it’s not meant to be consumed longer than 7 days? I have always consumed a minimum of 60oz of water on a daily basis but have enjoyed this drink and the results.

I usually add 1-2 TBSP for the entire 60 ounces but you could do more if you wanted.

    COMMENTS FROM PREVIOUS WEBSITE (ADMIN):

You can also cold brew the tea with ice water right in the mix. No boiling needed! I drop my tea bag in. Add ice, the juice and the water. I leave the bag in until I’m almost done drinking it. Then I drink the rest without the bag in it but it’s all “brewed”!

So I’ve done this several times- and I’ve lost weight, but has anyone had reactions on their tongue? Mine gets irritated and red. I looked it up and I might have an allergy to the dandelion root. It bothered me enough to not to do this again- but it does work!

Drinking this tea as I type!!! Surprisingly it is really good! After smelling the dandelion root tea I was concerned about how it would taste. I could drink this everyday instead of plain water.

Just wondering WHY you couldn’t do this all the time? People drink dandelion root tea every day along with their daily amount of water so what’s the difference? Just curious because I really actually like this drink and would drink it for more than 7 days

Take some water from the 60 oz. Brew your tea in it and pour it back into the mixture. Some people just put in the tea bag into the mixture without brewing it.

Target has the same container for $1.99 depending on where you live. But it is less than $5 and yes it fits the 60 oz.

yes one tea bag for the 60 oz. I place the tea bag in hot water only for 2 minutes than i pour it into the mixture. Maybe I will try it without brewing it.

Yeah it is a lot of water. But, I drink a lot of water as is. Not even 2 hours my container is half way gone.

Today is my first day trying this cleanse. I added another lemon so the mixture can taste a bit better. I purchased my tea from fresh & easy. It is in a blue metal container. A bit pricey but after reading so much great reviews online I had to try it myself. The flavor is an almond/vanilla taste. I love it! It does have dandelion roots in it.

It tastes a little bitter. Not sure how to explain it. But, I just added more lemon into my mixture.

I added a tablespoon of cranberry juice. That helped.

This sounds CRAZY, but… I started this yesterday and weighed myself that morning at 7 am and again at 7 am this morning and I’ve lost 5.4 lbs.

I don’t even boil the tea – I just drop it in the 60oz of water with the lemon and cranberry juices. I found that if I steep the tea too long the water doesn’t taste as good. I think the point is just to drink the water, and the tea and juices are kind of beside the point. Consuming 64oz of water every day; the theory is that there is ALWAYS at least a LITTLE water in your stomach, thus helping to prevent you from overeating. I don’t think anyone is seeing this as some kind of magic bullet instant pathway to being thin – at least I hope not. It’s safer than diuretic drugs, that’s for sure.

I tried this last year. I felt less bloated, but never weighed myself. Don’t nit pick the recipe. Get the ingredients and follow instructions or don’t. It’s pretty simple. I got my jug, threw everything in, let sit overnight in the fridge and sipped throughout the next day. I did not boil tea. The container pictured can be found at Walmart.

These comments are hilarious. Thank you all, both dumb and smart for the laughs.

Dandelion root tea, on its own breaks down fat, helps your digestive system and cleanses toxins but remember this is only a 7 day cleanse, it is not something you do all the time.

I am cracking up reading the comments from people with no common sense. I hope my gallon of 64oz distilled water doesn’t poison me. hehe

To the anonymous folks saying you shouldn’t drink distilled… do you know what distilled is? It’s a process where you boil the water and catch the steam. It’s the best way to purify water. No bacteria, no minerals, just water. Perfectly safe to drink.

I started this today and was so full I didn’t eat much of a lunch. Does it matter when I drink this? I saw on another website that it’s recomended as a replacement or in addition to normal water intake. I was thinking I would drink it first thing in the morning every day. How long then should I wait to eat? Thank you!!

Yes, I only use 1 TBSP for 60 ounces of water but you can use more if you want. As far as the water goes, you typically will brew the tea with only 12 ounces of water but then you will add it to the additional water. It doesn’t really matter though how much water you use as long as you have the listed ingredients.
