HEALTHY HOMEMADE JAM
Who doesn’t love the classic peanut butter and jelly/jam combination?! However, it’s hard to find jelly or jam at the store that doesn’t have added sugars and isn’t super expensive. I decided to try something a little different and my first attempt turned out great! This is an easy, healthy alternative to store-bought jam.
WHY CHIA SEEDS?
This recipe only contains two ingredients: frozen fruit and chia seeds.
This homemade jam is naturally sweet and even contains a little protein thanks to the chia seeds (four grams of protein in two tablespoons) and is the key to the gelatin-like texture that makes it “jam.”
All you need in addition to chia seeds is your choice of fruit! We’ve made this using frozen strawberries and also frozen mixed berries. Both were great! Store this jam in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
