Clean Eating Homemade Gummy Candy

Candy was one of the hardest things to give up for me when I first started eating clean. I had a SERIOUS sugar addiction! Eventually, it because easier and since, I have experimented with ways to quench a sweet craving with natural ingredients rather than processed sugars, corn syrup and other things I know better than to have!

If you are looking for a healthier alternative, then this is definitely the recipe for you!

Where to Find Candy Molds

Before you get started making this recipe, you may be curious about how to make these into individual servings. While I often just pour them in a shallow container then cut into squares when set, you may want them to look more like gummies you buy in the store.

There are tons of amazing candy molds on Amazon to choose from. Gummy worm molds, gummy bear molds, and even Lego Minifigure molds are some popular options. Search for candy molds and you will find almost any shape and size you can imagine! Making these into unique shapes will make them even more appealing to kids.

How to Store Homemade Gummy Candy

These gummy candies are going to go so fast you may not even need to store them. However, if you have extras or make a larger batch, you’ll want an airtight storage option.

I often simply put them into an airtight container I have on hand. Tupperware is popular, but you can also use a candy jar, or even put into small cellophane bags and give them to your friends as a special treat.

These will stay soft and yummy for up to a week when stored in the refrigerator in an airtight container. If you don’t plan to eat them within the week, you can easily make a half batch, but it is unlikely they will last that long.

More Homemade Candy Recipes

These are so simple, yet so delicious! If you are looking for more snacks and treats that fit into a clean eating lifestyle, we have some great options to choose from at snack time. Our popular Sour Patch Grapes Fruit Candy is a fast and easy option that definitely appeals to the sweet and sour fan in your home.  If chocolate is more your style, then the Four Ingredient Peanut Butter Balls, or Chocolate Avocado Dessert are what you desire.

Clean Eating Gummies – Two Ways!

These gummies can be made two different ways. Keep in mind that these will not have the exact same consistency as regular gummies but they are still hard to resist! 😉

First Option (for softer gummies – these are tart!)

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup Fresh Squeezed Lime Juice (approximately 8-10 limes)
  • 2 TBSP Raw Honey
  • 1.5 TBSP Agar Powder
  • 1/4 cup Stevia in the Raw (optional)

Directions:

  1. Combine lime juice, honey, and agar powder in a small saucepan. Whisk to combine on low heat.
  2. Once combined, remove from heat (this should only take a minute or two)
  3. Pour in a square baking pan and place in the refrigerator for approximately 2 hours
  4. Remove gummies from pan and slice into 1″x1″ cubes
  5. Roll cubes in stevia for added sweetness, if desired

Second Option (for harder gummies)
This option makes 100 small gummy bears (as pictured)

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup 100% Pure Fruit Juice (we loved using Tart Cherry)
  • 1-2 TBSP Raw Honey
  • 3/4 TBSP Agar Powder

Directions:

  • Combine fruit juice, honey, and agar powder in a small saucepan. Whisk to combine on low heat. Be sure to continually stir so that the mixture does not stick to the sides of the pan.
  • Once combined, remove from heat (this should only take a minute or two)
  • Place into candy molds and into the refrigerator until hardened (we did this using the dropper that came with our molds)
