ORANGE CREAMSICLE PROTEIN SHAKE

Remember creamsicles? What do you think of when you hear the name? I think of sticky hands from delicious melting ice cream in the summer! I absolutely love the flavors of summer that take me back to my childhood. I wanted that same flavor in a protein shake and I must say, I think I nailed it!

HOW TO RECREATE THE CLASSIC

PROTEIN POWDER

The ingredients are important in order to achieve the taste you are looking for. Since this is a protein shake you’ll obviously want to use protein powder. However, not all protein powder is created equal. We used iHerb’s Sierra Fit Vanilla Whey Protein Complete for this recipe and it was perfect!

Sierra Fit Whey Protein Complete tastes great (it doesn’t have that chalky taste or texture!) and contains zero artificial colors, preservatives, or rbST hormones. One serving contains 120 calories with 24 grams of protein, only 1 gram of sugar, and 2 grams of carbohydrates.

GREEK YOGURT

Adding Greek yogurt to the protein shake will add to the creaminess and add a little extra protein – win, win!

ORANGE

In order to make an orange creamsicle protein shake, you’ll need an orange! 😉 Just peel and add to your blender.

AVOCADO/FROZEN SQUASH/ICE CUBES

Take your pick of avocado, frozen squash, and zucchini, or ice cubes to make the shake extra creamy and thick. If you leave this out it still tastes good but it’s not thick and creamy like it should be!

VANILLA FLAVORING

Since you already have vanilla protein powder don’t add too much vanilla flavoring, just half a teaspoon will do the trick! We order ours from iHerb as we prefer the Simply Organic brand. It’s USDA organic and contains no artificial flavorings.

STEVIA

This Orange Creamsicle Protein Shake is a creamy and healthy spin on the classic. It’s so delicious and easy to make you’ll want to have it every day!


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 scoop Sierra Fit Vanilla Whey Protein Complete
  • ½ cup Greek yogurt
  • 1 orange, peeled
  • ½ avocado (approximately 40 grams), frozen squash/zucchini, or ice cubes
  • ½ tsp pure vanilla flavoring
  • Stevia extract

Instructions

Place all ingredients into a blender and blend until combined (approximately 1 minute)

Notes

Adding avocado, frozen squash, and zucchini, or ice cubes will make this a creamy consistency, but it is not a required ingredient.
