Looking for something other than candy to hand out for Halloween? These non-candy Halloween treats are fun for kids and adults!
NON-CANDY HALLOWEEN TREAT IDEAS
We aren’t saying that you shouldn’t give your kids candy every once in a while but on Halloween, they get insane amounts of candy! Also, factor in the school parties, neighborhood parties, and team parties that all come around the same time of year. Talk about sugar overload!
Over the last few years we’ve given out some non-candy treats and they were a hit with the neighborhood kids. The following non-candy Halloween treat ideas will provide hours of fun for kids with no sugar added. 😉 We’ve included treat ideas for all different budgets. We’re partial to the glow sticks (which can be made into necklaces and bracelets) because they come in a pack of 300 for less than $21. I’ve NEVER seen a large bag of Halloween candy for that price. It breaks down to $0.07 per glow stick.
These treats can be used to hand out to trick or treats, give your own children for the holiday instead of candy, or used at school parties.

Glow Sticks/Necklaces/Bracelets
These glow sticks were very popular when we passed them out. The kids were so excited to get something that lit up and wanted to put them on immediately! They can be made into necklaces or bracelets. Plus, this price beats any price I’ve seen on candy – 300 sticks for under $21!
Stickers
I’ve never met a child that didn’t love stickers. Give them festive Halloween stickers or generic stickers to use at any time of the year.
Yo Yo’s
Yo Yo’s don’t need any explanation. Grab a pack of these mini Yo Yo’s and provide kids with hours of entertainment.

These mini cans of Play-Doh are the perfect size for treat or treaters.
Bubbles
You can’t say the word bubbles with a frown, even as an adult. So spread some smiles with these bubble containers.
Chalk
Each trick or treater will get three sticks of chalk with this particular sidewalk chalk party pack. What kid wouldn’t want that as a treat?!

These glow in the dark vampire fangs are another one of our favorite cost-effective options. You could even pair these with a glow in the dark necklace and still have a very inexpensive Halloween treat!

Slinkies
Just hearing the word slinky reminds me of my childhood. I don’t think kids will ever get tired of slinkies. Give parents a blast from the past and the kids entertainment with slinkies! These mini slinkies are the perfect size to hand out at Halloween or throw in gift bags for a class.
Bouncy Balls
Never doubt the fun that kids will have with a classic bouncy ball! These are another great cost-effective non-candy treat!
Leis
Maybe this idea is because we just got back from Hawaii but a lei would be a fun and unusual item to give as a Halloween treat! Choose from these inexpensive plastic leis or the luau flower party lei pack. Aloha!
P.S. Here’s our list of what to buy at Costco in Kauai to save LOTS of money. 😉
Bandaids
Kids obsession over bandaids still blow my mind but hey, makes it easy for you when thinking of unusual Halloween treats. These neon adhesive bandages are the most cost-effective but there’s also character bandaids like Paw Patrol and Hello Kitty but they are more expensive.
Bulk Halloween Party Favors
You could even get an assorted pack of Halloween party favors and have the children pick the one they want or just randomly hand out different items. Packs include things like stamps, stickers, pencils, erasers and much more.
If you still want to give out food but not necessarily candy, check your local Sam’s Club or Costco for individually packaged snacks like pretzels, or fruit snacks. If you don’t have access to a warehouse club or store that sells these items, try the following products we found on Amazon.

While I think its very admirable of you to move away from the sugar rush of Halloween, I’m not convinced that replacing it with a host of cheap plastic throwaway toys is the best replacement. Just trades one toxicity for another.

Hi Lana, You do have a good point there!

Thank you for the list! They are kids and we have to pass out something right?! Its all in fun and only once a year. I loved the options you gave and in fact just now ordered the glow sticks and the stickers. They are so much cheaper than candy too! Thank you!

Hi! I go to our local
farm market and purchase small apples and give them out instead of candy. Everyone loves a cold apple when you’ve been walking for a while and you’re hot under your costume. 🙂

I used to give things like coloring books/crayons, pens, pencils, etc. I had one mom tell me her kids couldn’t wait to get to our house to see what they’d get. Very, very seldom did I give candy. No one comes anymore. They’ve all grown and moved away.
