MINT CHOCOLATE ANTIOXIDANT SMOOTHIE

We love tea and drink a lot of it! Black tea, green tea, peppermint tea, and the list goes on and on. There are so many different flavors of tea and each flavor provides so many benefits. This one features peppermint tea!

BENEFITS OF PEPPERMINT TEA

Peppermint tea is one of our favorites because it’s great for hair, skin, and nails (which everyone has!). Easing nausea symptoms, allergies, and digestive issues are more great benefits of peppermint tea. A few of my friends drank peppermint tea while they were pregnant to help ease some of the symptoms. But don’t worry, even if you aren’t pregnant you can still benefit!

Along with the peppermint tea, another bonus to this smoothie is the antioxidants you get from the cacao powder! You can’t go wrong!

BENEFITS OF RAW CACAO POWDER

Cacao beans processed at low temperatures create Raw Cacao Powder. The processing at low temperatures helps retain more of the bean’s nutritional value. It promotes healthy skin, contains high amounts of antioxidants, and mood-enhancing benefits. It’s also great for weight loss and a healthy heart.

Description

This Mint Chocolate Antioxidant Smoothie is easy to make, tasty to drink, and loaded with nutrients.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 organic peppermint tea bag
  • 1 cup of water
  • handful of ice
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 2 cups of power greens (spinach, kale, etc)
  • 1 small banana
  • 1 TBSP raw cacao powder
  • 3 TBSP cacao nibs or dark chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Bring one cup of water to a boil. Remove from heat and place the peppermint tea bag in the hot water. Let the tea steep for 5 minutes, then discard the teabag.
    1. Let the tea cool before adding to the smoothie (to make it cool faster you can place the brewed tea in the refrigerator to cool for 10 minutes)
  2. Once the tea has cooled, blend ice, oats, greens, banana, cacao powder, and brewed tea in a blender until it resembles a smoothie.
  3. Pour the cacao nibs or chocolate chips into the smoothie and pulse for 10 seconds or until the chocolate chips are broken up into bits for a little crunch.
