HOW TO ORDER A CAKE FROM SAM’S CLUB

You guys, we went to Sam’s Club a few days ago for the first time in YEARS! We met my mom and sister there. She was looking for wedding cakes. Yes, wedding cakes from Sam’s Club! We were pleasantly surprised at the store. You know we LOVE Costco but can’t get over the prices and variety of Sam’s Club cakes. If you are a Costco member you can read about Costco cakes here but we’ve found that Sam’s Club has a lot more variety in the sizes and designs!

Need a party tray to go with your cake? Sam’s Club has you covered with many to choose from like the sundried tomato & buffalo chicken wraps combo tray, sliced meat & cheese tray, fruit & cheese tray, and/or chicken salad croissant sandwiches. Learn more about Sam’s Club party trays here.

Our local Sam’s Club requires you to call in your order or drop off the order form in person. See the pictures below the order forms for more detail on what options are available.

UPDATED JANUARY 2020: Thanks to one of our readers for alerting us that Sam’s Club had drastically changed their cake options. We have updated the cake order forms and the video. We didn’t want the video to be 15 minutes long so we had to move pretty quickly but if you see a design you like you can pause the video to view longer.

Please note that this post is not associated with Sam’s Club. Prices, selection, availability, and the process to order may vary depending on location so call your local store to be sure your location has the same procedure.

    • They suggest at least 24 hours but they do have cakes available (not personalized) for purchase all the time at our local Sam’s Club near the bakery. Some cakes (such as the ones with monogram letters) have to be placed 5-7 days in advance.

EXAMPLE CAKE PICTURES

I’ve ordered four cakes from Sam’s Club. Three for my sister (her wedding cake, her shower cake, and her bachelorette party cake) and one for my mother-in-law’s 70th birthday. The first one was a plain two-tier cake for my sister’s wedding shower. I chose vanilla on the bottom and chocolate on the top. I had them leave it plain because I was going to put peaches on it but since they aren’t in season and I didn’t like the fake ones that didn’t happen. I ended up using plain white flowers that Sam’s Club gave me. It didn’t turn out exactly like I wanted because of the missing peaches but it was delicious and no one could believe the price or that it came from Sam’s Club!

I also bought a very small two-tier cake for my sister’s Bachelorette Party. I opted for the unicorn cake since we had a giant unicorn float that we also bought from Sam’s Club. It was perfect! It was less than $11!
I purchased the one with both colors of pink icing but they also had a blue and pink one available. You may also be able to order one with your choice of icing colors.

Just for fun, here’s the bride (my sister!) on the awesome float!

I also noticed while I was there that they had a unicorn sheet cake for less than $22!

I think Sam’s Club asks for 24-48 hours but they also have cakes in the store. I would call your local store just to be sure.

Hello there, I’m about to order a 2-tier cake from Sam’s and was wondering approximately how tall is each tier? I’m trying to figure out how big or tall the doll figurine/cake topper I should get. Also, were the flowers free? Or did you have to pay extra for them? Thanks so much, love this post, very helpful overall :)!

Hi Rochelle! I am sorry I do not know the height of each tier but the flowers were free. 🙂

Can you stack (2) 8 inch vanilla cakes and do you have Boston creme filling g. Also is the “30” decoration pick extra?

Hi Rose! Your best bet would probably be the two-tier cake, I’m not sure if they can stack two of the same size. Our local Sam’s Club does not have Boston creme filling 🙁 and our decoration picks are not extra :). However, I would check with your local store to make sure they have the same policies! Good luck!

Hi Kathy, We aren’t associated with Sam’s Club so I’m not sure how much the 1/2 sheet cake is currently but I believe the full sheet cake is around $22. A 1/2 sheet cake serves 36-48. I would call your local store to get the correct pricing for that.

Thanks for the information! We are hoping for a less-sweet frosting….which one would you suggest?
    Thanks!

Sam’s Club changed a lot of the book last year. They now only offer whipped topping in white or chocolate (brown) only. They also removed more than half the options from the book. A lot of the copyright options are gone. We were bummed when we learned that in a March last year. They still taste great but the whipped topping is amazing and more people eat it over buttercream. The kids were not fans of the richness of buttercream.

Taste wise, do you prefer Costco cakes or Sam’s Club cakes?

Honestly, they are both very good. I don’t personally have a preference. Sam’s Club just has more sizes, decoration options, etc to choose from. Costco only has one size and limited designs to choose from.

Is there any filling for the larger tier cakes you purchased?

Hi Sally! No, I do not remember any filling in the tiered cakes. I have not had one lately though so it may have changed. I just remember vanilla or chocolate cake – no filling. I hope this helps. 🙂
