HORMONE BALANCING HOT CHOCOLATE
Winter, depending on where you live, may bring many different types of weather. Some of us have snow and freezing rain. While others look at palm trees! No matter where you are when the weather gets cold it’s only natural to snuggle up with a warm mug of hot cocoa. However, the added sugars are very high in packaged cocoa mixes. Even still, I was craving hot cocoa and I was determined to create a nourishing recipe.
Maca Root Powder
We love anything that is from the mountains and Maca fits the bill! It’s a plant grown in the Andes mountains of Peru. The root is the part of the plant that is used and is ground to make what we add to the recipe, Maca Root Powder. Maca is loaded with vitamins and minerals that increase energy and support the immune system. Maca is high in protein and amino acids.
Raw Cacao Powder
Raw Cacao Powder is cacao beans processed at low temperatures, therefore retaining more of the bean’s nutritional value. It promotes healthy skin and is packed with nutrients. It’s more commonly known for the high amounts of antioxidants and mood-enhancing benefits. It’s also great for weight loss and a healthy heart.

Ingredients
- 2 cups unsweetened almond milk
- 1 tsp maca root powder
- 2 TBSP raw cacao powder
- pinch of salt
- 1–2 drops of pure vanilla extract
- 1 TBSP raw honey
Instructions
- Whisk ingredients together in a small pot over medium-low heat. Heat to desired drinking temperature.
- Enjoy a mug of warm cocoa!
