This Cranberry Cleanser Smoothie is the perfect smoothie to add to your diet in order to get a variety of fruits and vegetables all while reaping the benefits of cranberries.

CRANBERRY CLEANSER SMOOTHIE

Smoothies are a great way to get fruits and vegetables into our bodies. Even our friends with kids can get their children to drink smoothies with hidden vegetables… and this one contains two cups of fresh spinach!

The main reason we drink smoothies, of course, is because of the nutritional benefits. Inflammation is at the root of many diseases including heart disease, cancer, diabetes, and auto-immune diseases.

Eating a variety of fruits and vegetables can be a challenge! Make it easier by adding a smoothie to your daily meals.

WHY CRANBERRIES?

High antioxidant foods such as cranberries can fight inflammation, lower bad cholesterol levels, and improve brain function. Cranberries are also great for your skin and teeth!

Still not convinced? Cranberries are high in iodine which is an essential mineral for a healthy thyroid. The thyroid gland is important because it is responsible for metabolism (among other things). An iodine deficiency can cause depression, high cholesterol, fatigue, and swelling of the thyroid.

CUSTOMIZE THIS SMOOTHIE

If this is too tart for you, add a sweetener like honey or stevia. FYI – The color of your smoothie may be darker so don’t be thrown off by a brownish color.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pear, cored
  • 1 orange wedge, peeled & seeded
  • 1/2 cup fresh cranberries
  • 2 cups fresh spinach
  • 1 cup cold water
  • handful of ice
  • Sweetener of your choice (if it is too tart without)

Instructions

  1. Core the pear and peel the orange wedge and remove seeds if necessary
  2. Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth
