Hi guys!
ReplyDeleteI love the site.
How can I print the recipes? I see e-mail, tweet, Facebook but no printing option?
Sorry!
Hey! We are currently working on adding a "print it" button. It should be up within the next few days and you will be able to easily print the recipes!
DeleteYou can now print the recipes!
DeleteHi there. I think that this might be a very useful site but every time I open a new link a pop up for Facebook comes up. This is very distracting for someone who is checking you out for the first time!
ReplyDeleteBtw, my husband is Cajun and I'm hoping to see some cleaner versions of his old favorites. Not sure he'll go for the wild rice with red beans.
I am so sorry you keep getting a pop up. It can be one of two things - either your cookies are turned off of your browser or it is the browser that you are using. What browser do you currently search the web with?
DeleteI hope he likes the Red Beans and Rice. You can substitute regular brown rice instead of the blend as well!
I too am a first time visitor and have greatly enjoyed your website except for a couple of things... the annoying Facebook popup every time I explore another page (and I have done a lot of exploring!).. my browser is Chrome... then I tried to sign up to have updates delivered by mail but get the message "the subscription doesn't have delivery by email enabled" .. and finally, LOVE LOVE LOVE your recipes (and meal photos are cool too).. and love that some of the nutrient/macros on them but a bunch of recipes do not have the servings, i.e. Chocolate Apple Oatmeal Protein Bars (I googled the recipe and found the servings on another site).. Overall, your website is easy to navigate and the content is outstanding. I look forward to coming back to visit frequently.
ReplyDeleteIgoslomo - I am really sorry that you are having the issue with the FB popup. After researching the problem, it's due to a your browser's settings of not accepting cookies.
DeleteWe are aware of the issue with the email RSS feed and we are trying to remedy this as soon as possible. If you would like, you can follow us through Google Friend Connect by choosing the blue button, "Join this Site".
Thank you so much for your kind comments on our site. We are still fine-tuning the website and you will see a few changes over the next few weeks, but it is great to get such positive feedback.
We hope you will visit often!
Tiffany
Help! I have tried several calorie calculators online (including the ones on your site), but they all give me different numbers. I am also not sure if "my level" of activity level is the same as theirs. So I am afraid that I am consuming too many calories to lose weight (even though I am well within my daily caloric need.)
ReplyDeleteFeel free to shoot us an email with your stats (height, weight, age) and we can give you a more precise calculation. I have an Excel file that I created for personal use, but we can input your info and help you out using that model.

Hey guys,
ReplyDeleteFirst I have to say thank you for always replying so quickly and clearly. You guys are great.
I was reading Whitney's post from her website and I saw that she thought about building muscle after her shoot but decided to lean out. I am just wondering what her "lean out" workouts consist of. I know females should lift heavy and I do. I definitely have the strength part down (weigh 135, bench 155). Right now I am trying to tone my arms. I know low weight high reps really aren't effective, or are they? What I am looking to do is keep the strength but tone down my arms a bit and get those cuts. I just started using drop sets this past week. What would a workout look like for someone who wants to lean out? More cardio based?
Thanks guys!
Hey! Thank you for emailing us!
DeleteTypically, when leaning out, you want to continue to lift heavy and add in a few extra cardio days - specifically HIIT cardio.
On those days that I do HIIT cardio, should I add extra protein into my diet or extra calories for that day?
DeleteIt all depends on the level of other activities...if you're still lifting pretty intensely then adding a bit more protein will help preserve your muscle mass. If you're trying to lose weight, you wouldn't want to add extra calories; however, you would for maintenance.
DeleteIt also depends on what you've assumed as your current activity level when figuring your caloric requirements...if adding HIIT is going to add additional caloric expenditure then you'd need to adjust for it.
Typically, adding protein will not make you gain weight even though it does carry calories. Your body knows whether it needs those amino acids and would convert very little to glucose (i.e. fat storage), thus, any additional protein would just be passed off with digestion.

ReplyDeleteI love your site. But I'm getting the FB pop up thing too and I've already liked the site on FB. I double checked Firefox's settings and I'm already set up to accept all cookies so that isn't the issue. Any other ideas?
ReplyDeleteI am a newbie Clean Eater and mostly have used your website as a foundation for my new start. I have two questions (I apologize if these were touched upon on early posts that I haven't read): 1) as this lifestyle change is low in dairy, how do you get your daily calcium intake? Osteoporosis runs in my family. 2) I have a huge sweet tooth and would like to try some of your recipes that call for protein powders. I have NEVER used powders in my life and don't want to just jump into it. Aside from walking in GNC and making friends, suggestions for this newbie?
ReplyDeleteHi Guys!
ReplyDeleteI love the site! One of my biggest issues is that me and my hubby lead really busy and at times overwheling lives. Often, one of the last things that we want to do is cook at night. Most nights, it takes all of the energy that we have just to get to the gym. How can we still eat clean and do it fast and easy?? I know that is a tough one because good food takes time to prepare and frozen food is so easy. I appreciate your feedback!
Hey there! Sounds like me & Scott! I never cook at night unless it is just eggs. I prepare all of our food on Sunday & then do another (smaller) food prep on Wed or Thurs. Check out our Food Prep examples under "The Lifestyle" tab at the top of the page - I think it may be just what you are looking for! Good luck! :-)
DeleteHey guys,
ReplyDeleteI have been seeing a lot of articles lately on having a protein shake pre-workout. What do you think of this?
Thank you!
Hi there! Tiffany wrote a great article on what to eat before & after a workout! You can view it under "The Workouts" tab at the top! Hope that helps!
DeleteHey! I read your blog when I remember to. :) Is there a way I can get email updates when you post something new? Also, what do you think of the Arbonne protein Shake mix?! Thanks so much!
ReplyDeleteYes, you can Brittany! Just go up to the "subscribe by email" box in the upper left hand corner of the page & enter your email! :-)
DeleteDo you have any suggestions for eating clean in college? Especially being a volleyball athlete. I workout for around 3 hours a day at the least but still need to burn fat. Thanks!I am in love with your site!!
ReplyDeleteOh wow! Three hours a day - that is hard work!! We had a guest post on Eating Clean in College...I hope this helps! Good luck!

Help! I love your site and your enthusiasm for clean eating. I found your site back in July and have been eating clean since.....however, these next three months are the toughest (for a lot of people) with major holidays coming up. At work we have a huge bowl of Halloween candies sitting there taunting me, and as soon as November/December come, more goodies will be coming in the door. What advice do you have to get through the next few months??
ReplyDeleteWe will be doing a post on this soon! Stay tuned! ;-) It might not be ready by Halloween so just remember that those "bite size" candies can easily turn into a "king size" bar! Last year I made Chili & Pumpkin Protein cookies to eat and I don't remember even touching the candy! Another good thing to do is wait until Halloween to actually buy the candy! Good luck!
DeleteHello, I see several protein bar recipes on your site, but if you are traveling and need to purchase one of the 'many' out there, which one would it be?
ReplyDeleteWe love the Quest bars! You can purchase them online (on Amazon, etc) or you can stop by Vitamin Shoppe!
DeleteWow the Facebook pop up is killing me! I've been coming to this site forever and it didn't used to come up...I already follow on Facebook...hmmmm....
ReplyDeleteLove the info and the recipes!
Sorry you keep getting the pop up! Either your cookies are turned off or it is the browser that you are using. Try adjusting your cookies to see if that works!
DeleteHi! You're fabulous and a great resource!
ReplyDeleteI had a question for you... I have recently found Advocare and their meal replacement shakes. Are these (or any brands you know of) clean? I am still learning the ins and outs of it all and wondering if these are on the good list!
Thank you!
Thank you for contacting us! We will be doing a post soon on supplements, etc but please email us at thegang@heandsheeatclean.com so that we can provide you with some information via email!
DeleteHi! I found yalls website about 4 weeks ago and have been in LOVE with it every since!!! I started with such excitement and have been losing weight and have felt an energy throughout my day that i thought was gone forever! I have bragged about yall because everyone wants to know what I'm doing and how. I now have 5 other people including my boss, that got hooked and have started through your website as well! Just wanted to let yall know that yall ROCK! Love, love your site and the recipes are so good but easy. Which is a total plus bc I cannot cook. Its truly Awesome and inspiring what yall have created through your site!!!!!!! Love yall and thanks for my new life style!!!
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to thank you ALL for all that you share with us. I've been half-heartedly following you guys for about a year maybe less. But medically I have to get it in gear. But really I want to say thank you because you got me started in the gym (I'm 50). My boyfriend has been saying he'll go with me, but never does. Last night he started complaining about a headache, so I thought he would back out this morning, but nope at 5:00 AM, he said come on lets go. I was shocked, but I jumped up to go. We got done working out and he was flying high, headache gone, awesome positive attitude, he LOVED it. It's been 4 hours since we have been to the gym and he just called and said "WE CAN'T STOP GOING! I'm so pumped up and feel so good, headache is still gone." So I push my luck and said "Just imagine how we would feel if tried eating better also?" He's game for it, so I'm jumping and changing all the food in the house this weekend. Thank you again so much!
ReplyDeleteWhat do you think of slimfast shakes?
ReplyDeleteI have just started my whole family on eating clean and I have loved your blog so thank you for all the information. I am really confused in the sugar area though what substitutes to use some people like the stevia, some xylitol, some maple syrup... there are so many things out there what is your preference and why? do you use different things depending on what type of food you are cooking?
