Keeping the flu at bay may be at the forefront of your mind. Did you know that 46% of Americans worry about getting sick during cold and flu season? Throughout the course of a week, and even a day, we go to places where we can't control the surfaces we touch - doors in and out of stores, restaurants and even the gym (Oh yes - we went there). We also can't control the quality of the air we breathe in these places either but we can at home!
Follow these tips to safeguard your health when out in public places:
Wash your Hands - Everywhere you can! You are constantly touching surfaces - door knobs, car door handles, money (ewww!), tables and chairs. Don't just wash your hands after going to the bathroom - wash them before you eat, before you handle a child and before you touch your face or your mouth.
Disinfect Surfaces in your Home and Office- This is as simple as wiping down counters, doors and door handles (how many times do we, our husbands and our kids not grab the handle, but the door instead) and faucets. You could use one of the product recipes in our
or a product like
Disinfect Surfaces at the Gym - Most gyms have spray and paper towels available for you to clean the equipment. Don't just clean it when you get off a cardio machine or a stop using a dumbell or kettlebell, clean those surfaces BEFORE you use it too! The person that just left the machine most likely did not clean the machine - you don't want to take that chance!
Clean Your Cell Phone and the Keyboard on your Computer/Tablet- Cell phones and Keyboards are nasty! Think about it - we pick them up ALL the time - while we are working out, while we are cooking (especially if we are using a recipe on the phone) and while sitting around. You can disinfect them easily witih a
n cleaning wipe as well. Just don't submerge them in water to clean them!
Exercise - Keep exercising! One of the ways to increase your immune systems ability to fight off infections and germs is to keep exercising. Just make sure that if you do feel sick, you act appropriately. This
may help with when to work out and when not to exercise when you are sick.
Eat Clean - Your body reacts to what you put inside of it - germs and food included! Eating Clean will give your body the much needed nutrients it needs without those nutrients being processed.
One more thing you need to do.... SANITIZE YOUR AIR
How you ask? With the
Air Purifier. The Air Purfier is amazing! It fairly compact in design if you have tight spaces in your home and it's really quite - perfect for our little one's bedroom! There isn't much to do as far as using it - it actually regulates itself. The autosensor on the

Fellowes suggests a few more steps for staying healthy during cold and flu season. Here are their four steps:
1. Ask about a flu shot (this may not be ideal for you, but it's something you should discuss with your doctor. Flu shots for certain populations can save their lives!)
2. Wash and sanitize hands (we definitely agree!)
3. Wipe down surfaces with disinfectants (again, we definitely agree!)
4. Purify the air indoors (agree again - use the
