Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, Earth Fare, & the Farmer's Market are about an hour away from our house. When we make the trip to one of these stores we usually stock up! Yes, we are guilty of going to all three in ONE day! Below are the items we typically purchase at these stores.
Our Typical Shopping List:
Seafood
Grass-fed bison & beef
Free range chicken & eggs
Steel cut oats
Black beans
Brown rice
Lentils
Honey
Fresh grind peanut butter
Produce (organic fruits & vegetables)
Almond cheese
Ezekiel products (they usually have a larger section than our local Publix)
Unsweetened applesauce

This is EXACTLY what I was looking for! My husband and I want to eat clean and even get the kids started too (with a few more exceptions that us of course) The hardest part of starting this process is what to buy, so this is VERY helpful and appreciated! We are starting next week after our beach trip... you've inspired us!
ReplyDeleteThanks Stephanie! I hope to organize the lists a little better & then compile them into one big shopping list! :-) Good luck with your clean eating journey!
DeleteWe are finally getting a Trader Joe's and a Whole Foods and I'm so excited - I'm hoping it will lower the grocery bill and generally make life easier - getting to the farmer's market for the 2 hours it runs on Saturday morning is not the easiest!
ReplyDeleteI wish they were closer to us! We love TJ & WF! :-)
DeleteFor the black beans, i'm assuming it's not the canned black beans, right? Or could it be if you drained and rinsed them?
ReplyDeleteWe do use canned black beans. We buy the lower sodium & do drain & rinse them!
DeleteThe only grocery stores we have here are Walmart, Cub Foods, HyVee, and Aldi's. Do you have any experience shopping at any of these?
ReplyDeleteWe have been wanting to "eat clean" for a long time, but never knew where to start...or how to keep going! This blog & all the tips, lists & recipes make it so easy to follow! Can't wait to get started! Really looking forward to the Amazon shopping list & the great BIG shopping list! Thank you, guys!
ReplyDeleteLOVE your blog. My husband and I are dong the 12 week program by Jamie Eason and have been using your blog to help us with the meal plans. We are stationed in Germany and it's hard to find some items. Some products on Amazon can be shipped to our base so we are looking forward to the online shopping list! THANK YOU for sharing your journey!! - Kim
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to eat clean, but it's hard on a budget, and my husband isn't on board yet. He still loves his cream of mushroom and meat sauce over spaghetti....talk about heavy...Help on budget friendly items that will satiate only me for now....
ReplyDeleteI am in my first trimester, but want to continue eating clean and doing some of the workouts....do you know if this is safe? Especially the workouts....I saw the cardio thigh and butt HITT workout and I want to do it, but not sure if the sprinting is good for the heartrate of the baby?
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great info. I can't wait for the amazon shoppin list.
ReplyDeleteWhich stores do you find almond cheese at? I have never seen it?
ReplyDeleteHi Amy! We find our Almond Cheese at Earth Fare! I hope this helps!
DeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteI have a question on the veggies. Can we buy them frozen or do they have to be fresh?
Thanks,
Andrea
