Our typical shopping list:
Boneless, skinless chicken breast (we usually have Publix grind this for us)
Extra-lean ground turkey
Grass-fed beef
Crystal Farms 100% egg whites (pasteurized cartons)
Organic, free-range eggs
Low-fat cottage cheese
Baby food
Quick oats
Food for Life Products (Ezekiel bread, english muffins, tortillas/wraps, etc.)
Unsweetened vanilla almond milk
Vegetables (red, sweet, and green onions, cauliflower, asparagus, etc.)
Fruits (bananas (for post-workout carbs), apples, various berries, lemons and limes, etc.)
Basically, we are "perimeter" shoppers. We spend very little time in the inner sections of the grocery store because that is where you will find all of the processed junk loaded with preservatives, sugars, and genetically-modified ingredients (for an exhaustive list of GMO foods and brands, go here - chances are, if it's made by any well-known brand, it's genetically modified or engineered...a.k.a. fake food).

Love it!! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThis is great guys, thanks! Is the ground meat easier to cook/add to what your eating? Is it a convenience thing?
ReplyDeleteHi Genevieve! We use ground meat in almost all of our recipes (the chicken muffins & monster meatloaf). We also usually just brown some to throw in with scrambled eggs during the week!
DeleteBaby Food?! :D Do you buy that for yourselves?
ReplyDeleteLeah - HAHA! We use it in some recipes instead of butter!

DeleteOk, I am new to this and am a fruit person over veggies. From your sample daily food I see WAY more veggies and just a liitle bit of fruit. Isn't fruit "clean"? Why so little?
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing wrong with fruit...we just limit it to about 2-3 servings per day and generally try to keep it to higher fiber, micronutrient and antioxidant content (things like organic apples, berries, some citrus). It's best to consume fruit early in the morning when you need quick glycogen (stored carbohydrate) replenishment and after a workout with a good protein source (shakes are okay, but we prefer whole foods). If you've had a pretty intense workout, a banana is a good option because it is higher and sugar and the higher glycemic load will help deliver the amino acids from your protein into your bloodstream more efficiently. Hope this helps!

Hi! Came across your site and I am convinced at giving this a shot! I am making up a long grocery list based on the recipes listed on your site, but noticed that while beef is listed on your grocery items, I didn't see it used in any of the recipes. Is grass-fed beef something that could be subbed in the recipes that call for ground turkey? If I am going to get my husband on board, there will have to be some dinners with beef in them! :)
